Xoul Creation Interface

A breakdown of the interface for Xoul creation and how to use these fields.

Xoul Basics

Name, Gender & Age

This is where you will enter the name of your Xoul.

Any alphanumeric characters or symbols can be used in this field. Maximum of 100 characters allowed.

Name & Variable

The variables {{char}} and xoul are placeholders that will be swapped with the exact text you write in this field.

As in, quite simply, you type {{char}} and the platform turns those 8 characters into the exact text written into the 'name' field, as shown here with the Greeting:

Xoul Persona

Description

The Description & Advanced Definition is the "guts" of your Xoul. It acts as the entire text field available for defining who & what the content is about. It can be written in any number of ways and how it is written will have a direct effect on the outcome of the model's behavior within the chat.

For a Xoul which represents a single character this will include things like who the character is, what they look like, act like, what sort of personal opinions they hold, how they dress, who they know, etc.

For a Xoul which represents a world, story, or premise it might include information about a whole cast of characters, settings, world logic, etc.

For more experimental Xouls which act as utilities (such as a dictionary Xoul) or something like a text-based adventure game it will just need to contain the instructions necessary for the model to understand how and what it should be doing.

The text written into the Description will be visible on the profile page of the Xoul for any user to read.

Intro & Greeting

Intro

Once called the "Default Scenario", the Intro can serve two purposes, which can overlap:

The intro is the "back of the book" blurb that acts as the premise of the chat or character the Xoul represents, serving as the background information leading into the Greeting.

This is visible to users who start chats with these Xouls and will be displayed at the top of the chat interface.

Greeting

This will print within the chat as the first message.

If the Greeting is left blank a small model will generate a random Greeting when a chat is started using this Xoul.

Response Styles

The Response Styles are Xoul.AI's various available system prompts which will act as the instructions guiding the way the model responds within the chat.

Roleplay (Character-Focused)

A system prompt that gives character focused roleplay instructions. It is flexible and adaptive to most user's needs.

Novel (Slowburn)

A system prompt influencing the model to use a more slow, descriptive style of prose with attention to details, characters, and more expansive use of supplementary characters.

Realistic (Simple)

A system prompt that uses shorter, less narrative heavy responses. More for casual chatting.

Lust (Explicit)

A system prompt which heavily influences and aids with explicit roleplay handling. This will heavily encourage the AI to steer the chat into explicit territory.

Word of Caution: Custom Prompts

The final option, Custom, is a system prompt override, replacing Xoul.AI's system prompt with one of your own design.

The Response Styles provided by Xoul.AI includes most of these clauses and structure already.

Advanced Settings

Advanced Definition

This is a direct continuation of the Description, the only difference being that it is not visible to anyone except the AI.

Reminder: The Description, Advanced Definition & Chat Samples all have a shared character limit.

Chat Samples

Chat Samples

  • Examples of how your character should talk or respond.

  • Each one can be multiple lines long (including blank lines), and you separate them by starting a new one with {{char}}: or xoul:.

  • If your character isn’t sounding quite right, adding a few chat samples helps the AI copy the exact vibe you want.

Override Default Formatting

Once the Xoul is created, click the edit button and navigate to the bottom of the Advanced Options section to find this:

By leaving this toggled off the model will use "quotation marks" around dialogue and *asterisks* around narration, the standard "roleplay" format, using third person perspective.

By toggling this on the model will no longer have those instructions and will instead focus on using the format you stipulate in Xoul or more heavily follow the formatting, perspective and tense found in Chat Samples and the Greeting.

Ad Ons - Lorebooks

You can attach up to three Lorebooks.

A Lorebook provided inside of a Xoul will automatically be used within the chat, although users can remove provided Lorebooks or even replace them with different ones.

↳ Lorebooks

A Lorebook is a collection of entry cards that can but will not always be referenced when the model generates a response.

A Lorebook's entries should contain supplementary information that you would like the model to know when the topic comes up. Foundational information, however, belongs in the Xoul.

Xoul Appearance

Icon & Voice

Icon

A Picture for your Xoul is required Choose or create the image that represents your character. You can:

  • Spend Cells to generate an image using Xoul’s image model.

  • Select from a variety of pre-generated image categories.

  • Upload your own custom image.

Icons can be square or rectangular; they’ll automatically center when displayed in searches.

Voice

Pick a voice for your character from the menu. You can preview each voice by clicking the play icon next to its name to hear how it sounds before selecting it.

You can create custom voices, which will be included in this list.

Clicking the pencil icon within the edit Xoul page will allow you to change the voice later.

↳ Voices

Xoul Social

Handle, Tagline & Creator Memo

Your handle must be unique because it is the permanent URL of the Xoul.

Handles can only contain alphanumeric characters, periods and hyphens. No other special characters may be used.

Visibility & Tags

Visibility

  • Public: Visible to everyone and appears in search results.

  • Unlisted: Hidden from search results but still accessible through a direct link.

  • Private: Only visible and usable by you. It will only appear in your own search results.

Community Tags

Add up to seven tags to help others find your content.

Tags make your Xoul appear in search results and show what it’s about. You can type custom tags or choose from a list of common ones. Use tags to both improve visibility and describe your content clearly

Allow Community Posts

This option turns on or off the ability for other users to tag posts to your content. If you would like to remove the ability for other people to attach images, videos, or other content to your Xouls, keep this toggled off.
