Xoul Creation Interface
A breakdown of the interface for Xoul creation and how to use these fields.

Xoul Basics

Name, Gender & Age
This is where you will enter the name of your Xoul.
Any alphanumeric characters or symbols can be used in this field. Maximum of 100 characters allowed.
Name & Variable
The variables {{char}} and xoul are placeholders that will be swapped with the exact text you write in this field.
As in, quite simply, you type {{char}} and the platform turns those 8 characters into the exact text written into the 'name' field, as shown here with the Greeting:

The conversion of {{char}} to the exact text written within the name field happens before the model receives the text. Whether you write {{char}}, xoul or simply David will have zero effect on the model's ability to understand who you are talking about.
Selection for your Xoul's gender listed as Male, Female, Non-Binary or Prefer Not to Say.
Type in any text and press enter (or tap create) to create a unique gender.

A numerical value between 18 and 100000. The AI has access to this information, but its effect is minimal.
For Xouls representing things that do not have a standard age, don't stress. Just put in whatever number feels appropriate to you.
All characters featured on Xoul.AI, no matter what content they appear in, must be at least 18 years of age or older.
The age written into this text field is read by the model.

Xoul Persona

Description
The Description & Advanced Definition is the "guts" of your Xoul. It acts as the entire text field available for defining who & what the content is about. It can be written in any number of ways and how it is written will have a direct effect on the outcome of the model's behavior within the chat.
For a Xoul which represents a single character this will include things like who the character is, what they look like, act like, what sort of personal opinions they hold, how they dress, who they know, etc.
For a Xoul which represents a world, story, or premise it might include information about a whole cast of characters, settings, world logic, etc.
For more experimental Xouls which act as utilities (such as a dictionary Xoul) or something like a text-based adventure game it will just need to contain the instructions necessary for the model to understand how and what it should be doing.
The Description, Advanced Definition and Chat Samples share a character limit. You have 12000 characters (or 17000 characters for Gold tier subscribers) to define your character across all three text fields.
Description: 5000 characters
Advanced Definition: 5000 characters
Chat Samples: 2000 characters
Total: 12,000 characters used.
Click the sparkles in the lower right corner to have the AI generate a description for you that uses the name, age and gender provided.
Do NOT define any minors within your content. Xouls cannot include characters under the age of 18, even as supplementary or background characters.

Intro & Greeting
Greeting
This will print within the chat as the first message.
If the Greeting is left blank a small model will generate a random Greeting when a chat is started using this Xoul.
The Greeting has a powerful influence on how the AI will write at the start of a chat. The use of *italics* around narration, the lack of "quotation marks" around dialogue, a complete lack of dialogue, the way the narration is written, the tone, tense, perspective and even length of the Greeting will influence the model to continue to write like that.
The Greeting, just like Chat Samples, should be representative of how you'd like the AI to write.
The Greeting is not permanently remembered. All other text within a Xoul, however, is permanently remembered.
↳ Memory & Context

Response Styles
The Response Styles are Xoul.AI's various available system prompts which will act as the instructions guiding the way the model responds within the chat.

Advanced Settings
Chat Samples
Chat Samples
Examples of how your character should talk or respond.
Each one can be multiple lines long (including blank lines), and you separate them by starting a new one with
{{char}}:orxoul:.If your character isn’t sounding quite right, adding a few chat samples helps the AI copy the exact vibe you want.
Override Default Formatting
Once the Xoul is created, click the edit button and navigate to the bottom of the Advanced Options section to find this:
By leaving this toggled off the model will use "quotation marks" around dialogue and *asterisks* around narration, the standard "roleplay" format, using third person perspective.
By toggling this on the model will no longer have those instructions and will instead focus on using the format you stipulate in Xoul or more heavily follow the formatting, perspective and tense found in Chat Samples and the Greeting.

Ad Ons - Lorebooks
You can attach up to three Lorebooks.
A Lorebook is a collection of entry cards that can but will not always be referenced when the model generates a response.
A Lorebook's entries should contain supplementary information that you would like the model to know when the topic comes up. Foundational information, however, belongs in the Xoul.

Xoul Appearance

Icon & Voice
Icon
A Picture for your Xoul is required Choose or create the image that represents your character. You can:
Spend Cells to generate an image using Xoul’s image model.
Select from a variety of pre-generated image categories.
Upload your own custom image.
Images can never be explicit. Graphic explicit images will not be approved for public display.
↳ Images
All characters pictured within an image must appear to be 18 years of age or older. Do not use images that depict or contain teens, children, toddlers or babies even within the background of the image.
↳ Images: Age
Voice
Pick a voice for your character from the menu. You can preview each voice by clicking the play icon next to its name to hear how it sounds before selecting it.
You can create custom voices, which will be included in this list.

↳ Voices

Xoul Social

Handle, Tagline & Creator Memo
Your handle must be unique because it is the permanent URL of the Xoul.
Handles can never be changed, and they are NOT reusable, even if you delete the Xoul with that handle.
Write a short line that will be displayed on the explore page.
Taglines are a great place to put Content Warnings for content with sensitive themes.
A public facing text field that is displayed on the Xoul's profile page as the 'Bio' but which is not read by the AI.
To be used however you please.
If your content explores sensitive themes, the inclusion of a content / trigger warning is strongly encouraged.
The user should always know what they're about to interact with.

Visibility & Tags
Visibility
Public: Visible to everyone and appears in search results.
Unlisted: Hidden from search results but still accessible through a direct link.
Private: Only visible and usable by you. It will only appear in your own search results.
If you save your content to Unlisted or Public, but find it on Private inexplicably it is either being blocked by the automod or has been moderated by Xoul.AI's moderation team.
Go to the safety page within your account settings to check your moderation history & review the rules.
Community Tags
Add up to seven tags to help others find your content.
Tags make your Xoul appear in search results and show what it’s about. You can type custom tags or choose from a list of common ones. Use tags to both improve visibility and describe your content clearly
Use the NSFW tag on content which has a graphically explicit greeting, heavily leans towards explicit roleplay OR contains sensitive topics or themes.
Allow Community Posts
This option turns on or off the ability for other users to tag posts to your content. If you would like to remove the ability for other people to attach images, videos, or other content to your Xouls, keep this toggled off.
